  • Interest in data collection (surveying), particularly in humanitarian emergencies and other challenging contexts, and a desire to improve our platform for our users.
  • Proficiency with spoken and written English.
  • Fluency with Git.

Description

About Status

Status is building the tools and infrastructure for the advancement of a secure, private, and open web3.

With the high level goals of preserving the right to privacy, mitigating the risk of censorship, and promoting economic trade in a transparent, open manner, Status is building a community where anyone is welcome to join and contribute.

As an organization, Status seeks to push the web3 ecosystem forward through research, creation of developer tools, and support of the open source community.

As a product, Status is an open source, Ethereum-based app that gives users the power to chat, transact, and access a revolutionary world of DApps on the decentralized web. But Status is also building foundational infrastructure for the whole Ethereum ecosystem, including the Nimbus ETH 1.0 and 2.0 clients, the Keycard hardware wallet, and the Waku messaging protocol; the p2p communication layer for Web3.

As a team, Status has been completely distributed since inception.  Our team is currently 200+ core contributors strong, and welcomes a growing number of community members from all walks of life, scattered all around the globe.

We care deeply about open source, and our organizational structure has minimal hierarchy and no fixed work hours. We believe in working with a high degree of autonomy while supporting the organization's priorities.

The role:

We are looking for an experienced React developer to join a small, fully asynchronous team, who will take ownership of certain web-related areas at Status. Your role will not only involve translating high-level designs into production-ready UI, but also collaborating with colleagues across the stack to deliver new features.

Our stack is built on modern foundations – a monorepo powered by TypeScript, React, Storybook, Vite, Vitest, Playwright, ESLint, Prettier, Yarn Workspaces, and Turborepo. As we work in the open and are fully open-source, you can get a better idea of who we are and the work we are doing by browsing our Status Web repository. We strive to build solid foundations that will enable us to continuously make progress. We don't expect you to have a background in everything we use, but we do expect strong JavaScript fundamentals and experience working with React and TypeScript.

We function as generalists, often undertaking a variety of challenges, and deeply care about the quality of our work. We look forward to collaborating with experienced individuals who can operate independently, make important decisions, and take ownership.

Key responsibilities:

  • Building new features with beautiful and scalable UI components from start to finish
  • Building and maintaining the new React implementation of Status’ design system
  • Collaborating with other people across the teams
  • Gathering feedback from users and developers to better understand their needs

You ideally will have:

  • Clear and effective communication skills, both verbally and written
  • Thoughtful and pragmatic problem-solving
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, with 3+ years of experience with React
  • Experience writing modern, performant, and accessible React code
  • Strong knowledge of JavaScript, and ideally TypeScript
  • Prior experience creating a component library

Hiring process:

The steps may change along the way if we see it makes sense to adapt the interview stages, so please consider the above as a guideline.

  • Call with Talent
  • Technical interview
  • Live coding interview
  • Interview with Design

Compensation:

The expected compensation range for this role is negotiable, dependent on how we assess your skills and experience throughout our interview process. We are happy to pay in any mix of fiat/crypto.

    Blue Coding

    Developer Support Engineer (IB)

    0 days ago Apply
    Description
Do you want to earn a salary in USD?
Would you like to work from wherever you want?
Would you like to be a part of the leading next-gen software developers?

    Hi, you finally found us!

    Why work at Blue Coding?

At Blue Coding we specialize in hiring excellent developers and amazing people from all over Latin America and other parts of the world. For the past 9 years, we’ve helped cutting-edge companies in the United States and Canada -both large and small, build great development teams and develop great products. Online shops, digital agencies, SaaS providers, and software consulting firms are a few of our clients. Our team of over 100 engineers is distributed in more than 10 countries across the Americas. We are a fully remote company working with a wide array of technologies and have expertise in every stage of the software development process.

Our team is highly connected, united, and culturally diverse, and our collaborators are involved in many initiatives around the world, from wildlife preservation to volunteering at local charities. We also participate in group activities like movie nights, trivia, and meme competitions. We stand for honesty, fairness, respect, efficiency, hard work, and cooperation.

    What are we looking for?
In this opportunity, we are looking for a Developer Support Engineer to work with one of our foreign clients, who are providing work with diverse clients in different industries including, Health, Legal, and Automotive.
If you are independent, a great communicator, a problem solver, and have strong attention to detail, this is a great fit for you! Our jobs are fully remote – as long as you have the skills and can get the work done well, you can work anywhere in the listed countries you want.
If you have the skills and can get the job done, join us and work from anywhere you want!

    What's unique about this job?
As a Developer Support Engineer, you’ll be developing and maintaining an application deployment system that allows microservice-architecture applications to be deployed easily on Kubernetes. An integral part of onboarding business units into this deployment system is converting their existing applications, databases, and supporting services from bare-metal/VM deployments to containers.

Here are some of the exciting day-to-day challenges you will face in this role:

  • Assist developers in converting their applications to 12-Factor principles so that the apps can run cleanly in a containerized environment, and migrate cleanly from one environment to the next
  • Set up, monitor, and debug CI/CD pipelines constructed in GitLab and Jenkins. This includes Docker container builds managed by bespoke Jenkins libraries, so the job will entail debugging and enhancing these libraries (written in Groovy) from time to time
  • Assist developers in debugging application configuration, code questions, or debugging issues across various languages: PHP, NodeJS, Java, Ruby, .NET Core, and sometimes even Elixir
  • Assist developers in introducing exception reporting and APM metrics into existing and new applications, to improve runtime performance and error monitoring
  • Monitor, tune, and debug issues related to application health and Kubernetes cluster health
  • Identify bugs or shortcomings in the platform and implement solutions to make the IKE Platform better for users and/or easier to maintain
  • ,

You will shine if you have these:

  • Git, including management of remotes, branching/merging, and rebasing
  • Basics of Jenkins: Jobs, Pipelines, webhooks
  • Basic RDBMS design and tuning
  • Linux "power user" skills
  • Docker concepts:
  • Builds, including multi-stage builds
  • Layer management and caching
  • Volume management
  • SecurityContainer networking and IPC
  • docker-compose
  • Use of Kubernetes: namespaces, core objects (Deployment, StatefulSet, PersistentVolumes, etc.)
  • Familiarity with configuring and automating Prometheus metrics collection and Grafana dashboards
  • Familiarity with principles of web application development:
  • Configuration by convention (e.g. Rails, Laravel, etc.)
  • Proxying server configurations (Nginx and/Apache)
  • Exception reporting, logging, and performance metrics
  • ,

It doesn’t hurt if you also have:

  • Rancher Kubernetes cluster management
  • 12-Factor concepts and their real-life application
  • Familiarity with as many programming languages and frameworks as possible: PHP/Laravel, NodeJS, Java/Spring Boot, Ruby/Rails, .NET Core, Elixir, Rust, Python/Django/Flask, etc.

In this opportunity, we are looking for a Senior FrontEnd Developer to work with one of our foreign clients, who is a market leader in the consultation, design, procurement, implementation, and ongoing managed services for technology services for mid to large global enterprises. As a Telecom Managed Service company, they partner with over 300 service providers globally to help customers with technology design and find the best solutions to meet their needs.

As a Senior FrontEnd Developer, you’ll be part of a massive migration, rebuilding, and rewriting of our client's existing application working alongside a top-of-the-line team creating this application from the ground up to transition it to modern languages and practices. This transition will be divided into 5 phases and post-launch support and iteration. This is a very long-term project.

The platform supports all business functions from sourcing and pricing, purchasing, implementation and project management, customer lifecycle management, incident management, financial management, expense management, and business process automation and integrations. This is written in Coldfusion running on Lucee with ColdBox. About half of the source code has been refactored into an MVC framework while other pages may still be in a single file approach. There is some code that is still tag-based but much of this has been migrated to a script-based code structure.

As the platform is rebuilt, the client will be implementing a new UI based on their design standards which are based on Bootstrap 5. Additionally, they will deprecate certain functionality or data points from the application to streamline the User Experience and better align with how the company operates various parts of the business.

Here are some of the exciting day-to-day challenges you will face in this role:

  • You'll participate in doing a transition and migrate all existing functionality from Ruby to .Net Core MVC.
  • All of the migration will be done using Agile methodologies and Scrum.
  • Rebuilding the UI based on the client's design standards which are based in Bootstrap 5.
  • Build out and maintain the CSS and core JS files to support the developers in implementing the code in .NET
  • ,

You will shine if you have:

  • Strong hands-on experience with HTML, CSS, and Javascript.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum, and Kanban.
  • Experience with cloud environments like Azure or similar.
  • Knowledge or experience working or reading React, Typescript, C# and .NET code is plus.
  • ,

Here are some of the perks we offer you:

  • Salary in USD
  • Long-term
  • Flexible schedule (within US Time zones)
  • 100% Remote
