RESPONSIBILITIES • Write clean and scalable code using a variety of languages primarily Ruby and Java Script • Build components for web applications pragmatically, focusing on performance and security • Troubleshoot application issues, adeptly debugging and rectifying errors to ensure the best user experience • Actively provide technical insight and participate in code reviews • Thoroughly test code and write effective automated tests • Uphold best practices and maintain high standards for engineering and product quality • Improve, monitor, and maintain applications after deployment • Coordinate with team members who work on different layers of product life cycle including Product Managers, QA Specialists and DevOps Engineers • Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS • A minimum of 4 years of Ruby on Rails experience • A minimum of 3 years of experience with JavaScript and at least one front-end framework such as Angular, React, Vue or equivalent • Solid database experience, preferably with MySQL, PostgreSQL and Redis • Experience with Elasticsearch and MongoDB is a plus • Familiarity with using Docker, Git and a Linux environment is preferred • Strong problem solving skills and is able to craft solutions within the expected timeline • Must be results-driven, have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced Agile environment with large scale SaaS products • A degree or diploma that contributes to the organization or role is considered an asset • Must be very detail-oriented, and have a passion for programming • Self-motivated with the ability to establish and maintain solid relationships through a client-first mentality • As part of a diverse team, ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment • Must be technical, and analytical, and have the ability to manage complex projects seamlessly • Fluent in English (spoken and written) and able to communicate effectively with ease. This is written in Coldfusion running on Lucee with ColdBox. About half of the source code has been refactored into an MVC framework while other pages may still be in a single file approach. There is some code that is still tag-based but much of this has been migrated to a script-based code structure. As the platform is rebuilt, the client will be implementing a new UI based on their design standards which are based on Bootstrap 5. Additionally, they will deprecate certain functionality or data points from the application to streamline the User Experience and better align with how the company operates various parts of the business.
